Thoughts on a Friday

Been a tough month as a whopping sixteen rejections from lit mags came in one after the other. This game we all play in the writing world can grind you down sometimes, and you start to question yourself and what you’re doing. But it’s what we signed up for, and you can’t get publications if you don’t constantly put yourself out there. So put yourself out there. Yes, it can suck. Yes, it can make you feel like you’ll never be good enough. But trust me on this: It all eventually turns around again, and you get an acceptance or two. And you remember those acceptances. Those are what keep us going. So, keep going. Keep trying. Keep putting yourself out there.

And with that, I’m thrilled to say cahoodaloodaling nominated my CNF “Your Addiction Has Affected Me in the Following Ways” for Best of the Net 2019. You can read it on my Publications page.

And, The Forge Literary Magazine announced their winners and finalists for their 2019 Flash Competitions, and I’m equally thrilled to announce I was a finalist in the Nonfiction category. That flash CNF, entitled “Cannibals”, is still looking for a home, but I have faith it will find its perfect home soon because I believe in that piece so much and I know it’s one of the best I’ve written to date.

Best wishes to all on a chilly Friday!

Welcome to my new website

I hope to not make this website too terribly boring. Since publishing is hard work, most of the dynamic content here will be my occasional blog posts, where I’ll link you all to some great writing I came across. I love reading others’ works—I don’t just enjoy them; I learn from them. And supporting other writers is so important. This isn’t a competition, and there’s room for all of us. Happy reading!
